Elephants in circuses and traveling animal acts were banned in NYS in 2017. This group will send letters to your NYS legislators on your behalf, urging them to cosponsor and support S.3629/A.5850 which will prohibit the use of wild cats, nonhuman primates and bears in NYS circuses and traveling shows. S.3629 has already been voted out of committee, which is great. Pls S/S, Thank you! ~Animal Defenders of Westchester

Last year, you asked your state legislators to support a crackdown on animal exploitation in circuses by banning the use of bears, wild cats, nonhuman primates, kangaroos, and wallabies in traveling performances. New York already prohibits the use of elephants in circuses, but so many other animals are still suffering and need your help.
Wild animals in traveling acts spend most of their days in tiny cages, hauled from city to city where they’re forced to perform unnatural—and sometimes painful—tricks and stunts. Isolated from their families, these animals endure a lifetime of loneliness and abuse.
In 2025, the bill passed the Senate, and the Assembly version passed its 1st committee. Push this bill across the finish line and ask your legislators to support the New York circus cruelty bill.
Thank you for your advocacy.
Sincerely,
