This bill, entitled the Whale Awareness Act, has passed the entire NYS Legislature and will be headed to Gov. Hochul's desk shortly. If signed into law by Gov. Hochul, it would protect marine life by increasing the amount of state-mandated educational materials to prevent boat strikes. NYS Bill numbers A/8515 - S/2292 'Will reduce whale strikes by establishing policies that regulate the operation of large vessels in certain areas, to protect marine wildlife.' Dolphins are intelligent, sociable and feel joy and grief. This bill was created after a pair of short-beaked dolphins "captivated the Big Apple with their own graceful dancing. The tale ended in tragedy, however, when one washed up bloodied and battered on the shores of Astoria from a boat strike."
PLS CONTACT GOVERNOR HOCHUL AND URGE HER TO SIGN THIS IMPORTANT, MUCH NEEDED BILL. Thank you! ~ADOW:
