PLEASE CROSS POST
We have asked Westchester County Legislators to enact a ban on the sale of glue traps in the county. As most of you know, these items, which never should have been sold at all, are monstrous torture devices that cause lenghty, horrific suffering to mice and other beings like birds who wander into their baited vicious path. Animals tear off their own skin or feathers, and chew off their limbs to struggle to get away. Some animals' faces become stuck, leading to prolonged suffocation lasting for hours. Over 170 species of wildlife have been documented in glue traps - including some protected species of birds. They also don't address the issue at all.
The CDC recommends against the use of glue traps

Mice are intelligent and feel pain and joy just as humans do; they've even been proven to be empathetic towards the suffering of other mice.

Glue traps are totally banned in England, Scotland and Wales. Ulster County just passed a bill banning glue traps in county buildings; NYC has introduced a bill for a total ban and a NYS senate bill seeks the same.
Animal Protection bills often have to pass locally before they pass state-wide. This has been put on the docket in Westchester.
