From: Animal Defenders of Westchester (ADOW)
June 27, 2026
Irvington, NY recently instituted a killing program for their resident deer, using the usual pitiful excuse of them 'eating plants' etc. They ignored pleas to use fencing, deer-deterrent plants - and the facts about why the destruction they were claiming was incorrect. They are now raising hysteria over 'sightings' of coyotes, encouraging residents to call police if any are seen. (SEE IRVINGTON MSG BELOW)
Pls politely remind the Irvington Mayor: Coyotes are called the 'Song Dogs' because they sing to each other to keep track of their families. They are residents in almost every state and they are longtime residents of Westchester. Animals are more afraid of you than you are of them; they will be more cautious when their pups are nearby. The Facebook comments are very humane - with at least one comment that 'culling the deer wasn't such a good idea.' https://www.facebook.com/irvingtonvillage
There is a new Irvington mayor; hopefully she is more reasonable and humane than the last one ~~Thank you! ADOW
