Articles More dead cats found in Yonkers; pet owners urged to 'be cautious' Lohud.com YONKERS Several more dead cats and wildlife were recently discovered in northeast Yonkers, prompting the SPCA of Westchester to warn residents with pets and children to be cautious in case the animals were poisoned. The warning comes as the SPCA awaits the results of necropsies to determine the cause of death of the animals, found on Bretton Road the same neighborhood where at least five dead feral cats were discovered in the spring. Earlier this week, another local group, Animal Defenders of Westchester, reported that six stray cats, birds and a raccoon had died under suspicious circumstances in the neighborhood. The groups founder, Kiley Blackman, accused the SPCA of not investigating aggressively enough. If poison is being deliberately left around, as it appears to be, what if a child gets hold of it? And a person who does something so vicious and heartless to helpless beings is capable of anything the neighbors have every right to be concerned, both for animals and wildlife in the area and the safety of their children as well, she said. SPCA Humane Law Enforcement Director Ernest Lungaro urges anyone with information about the situation to contact his groups Animal Cruelty Hotline at 914-941-7797. All calls are kept confidential.
