Letter From Mindy About Horseracing

Re: Letter from Denice Re Horseracing

Dear Denice,

I have read your article about the horse racing and believe me I will never go to a race again.  I have never actually gone to one race, but after seeing what happen to these poor horses I don't know why anyone would ever step foot in one of those places!  I learned so much about horse racing and what all happens to these beautiful innocent creatures and I just wanted to say thank you for having the courage to do something I would never have the courage to do.  To find all this information, then to give a speech on this to 1.000's of people, and then to post this wonderfully written article on the web was a brilliant idea.  I loved it and I hope that everyone else out there who doesn't know all there is to know about racing will read this.  It was wonderful and I only wish there was more I could do.  I'm only 15 years old, but when I am older I would LOVE to help out these wonderful animals and just to save them from a life of fear and not knowing where they are going to go next.  I admire you so much for doing such a great thing for these animals and I only wish they knew what you are doing for them.  I know they would love and appreciate it greatly.  I just want to say thank you again.  I never would have known all that I do now.  You inspired me so greatly that I wrote a little speech of my own and told it in front on my class.  It may have only been a class of 32 but I know I touch a few peoples hearts and I hope you know that you touched my heart and I'm sure are touching the heart of any animal lover!!   GREAT JOB

Sincerely,

       Mindy

Dear Mindy,

Thank you so much for your beautiful letter to Denice, about the talk she gave to help racehorses. I am so thrilled that our work inspired you to give your own talk to your class! You have expressed yourself so eloquently here, I think your class must have been knocked out of their seats!

Racehorses, possibly more than other abused animals, have a tough way to go because little is written about their lives outside the track, and people don't think much about where they come from - and where they go after their racing days are over. My deepest thanks for 'telling their story' to your class - "Never doubt that a small group of concerned, thoughtful and dedicated people can make a difference - indeed, it's the only thing that ever has" - Anthropologist Margaret Mead.

Have a blessed New Year,

Kiley B
