Sport hunting isn't 'badass'

Tuckahoe, N.Y.: So prehistoric women were “badass” hunters, according to the Daily News (“Prehistoric women were badass hunters just like men: study,” Nov. 5)? That’s a value judgment; killing an animal really isn’t a macho thing and certainly not defined by gender. By bestowing this pompous, overly impressive term on them, you’ve enabled every self-aggrandizing sport and trophy hunter who thinks it’s badass to kill endangered sheep, bait and lure beloved lions, slaughter animals in enclosures who can’t escape and have killing contests which even other hunters dislike. Some ranches breed and raise tame, hand-fed animals they turn over for trophy killings, offering kangaroos, giraffes, zebras, ostrich, etc.

Hunters use methods like the blind, a sneaky way for hunters to hide — yep, they’ve got badass coming out of their ears. Don’t glam them up with fake bravado to justify inhumane acts.
