PUBLISHED LETTER RE: GREENBURGH AGAIN REFUSES KINDNESS 4 ANIMALS SIGN

This letter was published in response to Greenburgh's disgraceful refusal of a Kindness 4 Animals sign; original contact info alert and sign follows. Shame on Greenburgh; its ignorance and blatant discrimination against animal issues is appalling. Letters to editor Dan Murphy: [email protected]

The following letter re “Kindness”, was addressed to members of the Greenburgh Town Board and other local elected officials; it is something that residents should be aware of.

Gentlemen, Ladies – Really? Are you kidding? We are living in the 21st century and 2026 is almost here; and it seems to me, from all I hear, that some of the officials in the Town of Greenburgh, NY have buried their heads in the sand, and are refusing to see not only what’s happening around them, but also the future barreling down upon them. Violence against people is reported daily on TV and horrors committed against animals posted daily on social media for “LIKES”! Wake up!

As an educator, a teacher for more than 30 years, I find it downright shameful and embarrassing to say what is so very apparent: that for reasons known best to them, the Town Board has refused to allow a sign to be posted at the Greenburgh Nature Center that says -“BE KIND TO ANIMALS”!

What are you thinking??? What planet are you living on? With children (and adults) needing to be taught, and frequently reminded that kindness matters, that compassion for all beings is important, this Board has said NO to such a timely and gentle reminder! Shame on every one of you who voted against this.

You are a disgrace to your community and the office entrusted to you, and bring dishonor to your own families.

PLEASE CROSS POST

Greenburgh NY has again rejected our request that a Be Kind to Animals sign be placed at the entrance of Greenburgh Nature Center (GNC). We had the idea for the sign because there were numerous 'socially-conscious' signs, paid for by taxpayers, that specifically exclude animals, all over Greenburgh, including for some strange reason at the entrance of GNC itself - which is the animals' home. We wanted one 'kindness' sign - which we would pay for ourselves.

Various Greenburgh officials gave multiple baseless, lying avoidances for its denial - beginning with 'It's self-evident' (which unfortunately it definitely is not) - tho they welcomed in and gave taxpayer money to a questionable outside group for their signs. In 2025 this is an unacceptable, deceitful position for any govt to take. There is always a need to remind the public about being kind to the voiceless - ALWAYS. Our little sign is a small yet powerful message. NOTE: Manilus, NY wonderfully installed a public plaque and special bench in honor of a mother swan brutally killed there:

PLS POLITELY ASK GREENBURGH TO REVERSE THEIR OUTRAGEOUS DENIAL. At one point they offered to place the sign in a back building for no one to see! Greenburgh has always been a disaster for animals: They lied repeatedly to us about adapting a pet shop ban, which they ultimately were too cowardly to even vote on...and Greenburgh fought all attempts by another group to install a circus ban - which we finally got them to do by exposing the facts about the corrupt organization bringing in the circus.

Sample Letter: Greenburgh Officials: Pls allow the placement of a Be Kind to Animals sign at the entrance of Greenburgh Nature Center, which is the animals' home; actually such signs should be all over Greenburgh. Thank you.
