Moo-ving people toward compassionate living
From Nicole - 23 Apr 2004
Thanks for answering so quickly. My name is Nicole, by the way. Could you give me the names/addresses of any specific meat/dairy companies that I could write? I know it's just one letter but I think anything helps.
Also, I was wondering if I could get your opinion on something. When I discuss my views with other people, they usually argue that it is not financially efficient to raise animals on a farm or let them run freely and feed the public entirely vegan products. It frustrates me so much that there are people starving and others with excess food, and even more, that money is the foremost issue. But is it logical to assume that the entire world, starving countries and all, can survive on vegan products? I'm new at all of this - still a little confused towards what is best. It just breaks my heart to think of all of the people who spend their lives as slaves to a job in a meat factory - even more so for the animals who are born into a life where they serve only as food for meat-thirsting humans.
I'm just so used to hearing the go-with-the-flow-and-eat-meat protest so it's nice to hear another opinion. Thanks again.

We have found that nothing really happens when writing to animal abusers if the letter is kept private. If you’re good at letter writing, and are willing to write open letters, we would be happy to publish them, which would give them a broader spectrum. You can find addresses on most food containers in the market. Most of them also have email addresses.
You run into opposition because people don't want to change their lifestyle.
It's correct that with the current market demands, it's economically unfeasible to be kind to food animals. That's why the only answer is to go vegan.
It takes an average of 15 times as much land to raise animals for food, as it does to raise the same caloric value in plant foods. There is not sufficient agricultural land to properly feed everyone in the world on an animal based diet. The only solution is a shift to a plant-based diet.
I hope this answers your questions.
