hello. I fell upon your site not too long ago. I am not sure how to feel what I had seen, for I eat meat. I completely understand what you mean about who deciedes what type of animal we can and cannot eat. But GOD had allowed the Jewish in the Old Testament to eat animals. "The animals you may use for food include those that have completely divided hooves and chew the cud. You may not eat the animals named here because they have split hooves or eat the cud, but not both."(LEVITICUS 11: 1-4).And if you read LEVITICUS 11: 1-47 GOd gives you which animals you can and cannot eat. so do not say that this is cruelty to GOD's animals when they are killed because that is what he wants us eating. GOD created these animals for us to enjoy in any way, but obviously not in a cruel way.

The conditions of these slaughterhouses are HORRIBLE. but now they do have free-range meat. which lets animals live and eat normally. not force feed or trapped in a cage for most of their lives.

Also, we need a LOT of nutrients that we can't receive from plants. Such as Iron and Calcium, we would be required to some how get an intake of those.

Thank you for taking time to read my email. I hope to hear back.

Dear Viki:

Thank you for your letter.

You're absolutely correct, "God allowed" the people to eat flesh, He never commanded it. So, it is a concession because of their hardness of heart. His original commandment to eat only plant foods (Genesis 1:29-30) remained in effect. You might want to read:

http://www.all-creatures.org/sermons98/s17mar2002.html

In the desert God gave them manna which contained no animal ingredients, but the people complained and wanted flesh, and many of them died when they got it.

Flesh eating is not God's intent.

From what we've learned, free range, for the most part, seems to be mostly an advertising gimmick. Few of the animals have the freedom you mention and they all get slaughtered, many in the same slaughterhouses.

In the Love of the Lord,

Frank
