Did Abel or Cain Offer a Lamb in Sacrifice to God?
Comments by Van Robison - 8 Dec 2009

Dear All-Creatures.org,

I happened upon your website and see some interesting thoughts put forth. Of particular interest to me is the issue of animal sacrifices, as to whether the Creator of all life is really the author of such. As pointed out in your article about Abel and Cain, some verses in the Old Testament imply that God took no pleasure in blood sacrifices and burnt offerings. It really all comes down to the issue about whether the Bible is infallible and inerrant, as so many millions have been taught and believed the whole of their lives. I see God Almighty as infallible and inerrant, but I take exception with INK on PAPER, which is always subject to human nature and the LYING PEN of SCRIBES and FALSE PROPHETS, who place words in the mouth of God, saying "thus saith the Lord", when He did not say.

As a firm believer in Jesus Christ, those of us who do believe in Christ, have to admit, that there is not one human being alive on earth who ever heard, so much as one word that Jesus ever spoke, or witnessed His miracles or His life and death. Therefore to believe in Christ, is simply on the basis of faith, because there is no other possibility. We believe as a choice, because He makes perfect sense to our reasoning and faith is the gift of God. We believe that God Himself opens spiritually blind eyes to "see." As with every belief, there are always and forever those who disagree.

Strictly upon the basis of the teachings of Jesus Christ in the four Gospels, on my part, it is impossible to believe that many things attributed to God in the Old Testament, are authored by God. Jesus in fact stated that "IF you have seen Me, you have seen the Father" and "I and My Father are ONE." He also taught such renowned teachings as "love your neighbor as you love yourself", "do unto others as you would have them do unto you", "love your enemies", "turn the other cheek", "blessed are the peacemakers", "blessed are the merciful", "blessed are the meek" and so forth. He also said "you have heard that it has been said an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, but I say unto you" and He would then set the record straight as to the real truth. So who originally is responsible for saying "an eye for an eye?" Lying scribes? False Prophets? Who placed words in the mouth of God that He did not say?

And of course the list of atrocities in the Old Testament attributed to God Almighty is lengthy, incomprehensible, appalling, offensive and clearly defies understanding. How is it possible that God in the Ten Commandments could say "You shall not kill" and "You shall not steal" and "You shall not covet anything that is your neighbors (such as land), and elsewhere demand the opposite? Was God confused? Is God double-minded? How could God the Creator of all life, say in the 5th commandment to honor your father and mother and he that curses his father and mother, shall surely be put to death (Exodus 21:17, as opposed to Exodus 20:12)? If God really was the author of saying to kill anyone who dishonors their parents, then why did God not kill Adam and Eve for dishonoring their Father (God)? Does God demand one standard of humans, while He lives by another?

Was it not Jesus Christ who said that "Satan was a murderer from the beginning" and yet "Christians" by the millions believe that God was a murderer from the beginning? And shall we be blunt and straight forward? God, in what is called "the Old Testament" is portrayed as a mass-murderer, but was He really? Some day, Christians are going to have to face the reality that myth and fiction and lying scribes and false prophets are also a part of what they think is "infallible and inerrant." So again, it is impossible to believe what Jesus Christ taught, His role model and His life and believe that Jesus Christ is also God of the Old Testament, at least in portions of it. We also have to conclude that even the words attributed to Jesus Christ, we have no way of knowing, are perfectly represented, and that it is entirely possible that some words attributed to Christ are inaccurate. Many Christians become unglued when challenged on such issues.

God is not the problem in human life, but human beings are. Men often do not properly convey an adequate understanding from one language to another, nor are they exempt from human nature, bias, personal opinions and consequently error and even manipulation. It is also impossible to believe that the religious leaders in the Old Testament era and in the time of Christ, had no input into what is classified as "the Bible." "All scripture is given by inspiration of God", does not in any way define what "all scripture" is, and it is impossible to do so. We know that there was no "New Testament" during the life time of Christ, nor did the English language even exist at that time. The proper understanding of the "original", is that God Himself is the ONLY ORIGINAL and there never was another.

Clearly, religions are man-made and that includes all religions on earth, including what is termed "Christianity", which is improperly labeled. Christianity is in reality man-made churchianity (the clergy/laity system). Following priests, pastors, churches and organizations of men, including human governments, has nothing whatsoever to do with Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ verbally demolished man-made religion in His teachings and especially as recorded in Matthew 23. God Almighty is no more the author of human governments than He is man-made religions. Neither governments or religions have a clue.

In Romans 13 ("king" James version), the reader is led to believe that "rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil" and that cannot possibly be the truth. Rulers of men and of nations have slaughtered the innocents of life by the millions since the beginning of time, and for those of us who believe that Jesus Christ was crucified, if it were true that "rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil", then Jesus would never have been crucified. And "the Bible is infallible and inerrant?"

While I am not a vegetarian, it is still a very curious issue, that God as Creator would take any pleasure in animal sacrifices. It is amazing and astonishing how millions of human beings place so much blind faith in INK on PAPER as "100% inspired" by God. In reality the doctrine of "Bible infallibility" is a form of CENSORSHIP, which places scrutiny off limits for Christians. This is indeed strange, since even the Bible itself says to "prove all things" and "try the spirits whether they be of God." And of course we know Jesus Himself warned of "wolves in sheep's clothing" and to "beware for MANY will come in my name (Jesus Christ) and deceive many." We also know that Jeremiah talked about the LYING PEN of the SCRIBES. How is it that Christians in general are never able to discern that there are major issues of credibility with the so called "infallible Bible?" The world is full of SHEEP.

Cordially,

Van Robison
