The naming that Adam did is a traditional Hebrew custom, where the elder of the family gives the children their names, which means that God indented Adam to consider all of the animals to be members (children) of his family.
Actually, we believe that the New Testament began the process of reversing the concession that granted the eating of animals in Genesis 9.
