In my Blog, “Is a Christian Nation Possible? – 21 August 2006,” I
explained why I think the separation of Church and State is best. A true
theocracy can only work when Jesus returns (see The Revelation to John)
– and even then He will have to rule with a righteous rod of iron –
which no human is qualified to do. To think that humans (no matter how
“Christian” they may protest that they are) can establish a true
theocracy (government by God) is wishful thinking and doomed to failure.
Revelation 19:15-16
15 And from His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may
smite the nations; and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He
treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty.
16 And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, "KING OF
KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."

In this fallen world, all humans can be led astray – especially when
they find themselves in powerful positions; then they can also lead many
others astray. Surely, Christians, who are taught that Satan, the
tempter, roams the earth searching for those he can devour (1 Peter
5:8), are forewarned. They have no excuse for falling for the slick
political ploys of those who take these believers for granted as a large
captive voting block.
1 Peter 5:8
8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil,
prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
~ New American Standard Bible
Without a balance of power, a human government easily descends into a
dictatorship. Christians are easy pickings for politicos who lead them
down the “broad way” – and I don’t mean “Broadway, New York”!

Matthew 7:13
13 "Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide, and the way is
broad that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter by it.
