Fresh Produce – 25 August 2006
Among our latest purchases from our favorite farm market are Ginger
Gold apples and Roma tomatoes, in addition to fresh corn, sweet red
peppers, onions, and cucumbers, which we have been buying and enjoying
for several weeks. Around this time of year, we look forward to buying
some of our locally grown favorites as they become available – like
these apples and tomatoes.
Also recently, we bought a watermelon that turned out to be a variety
that we had never eaten before: round, solid green in color, seedless,
but with yellow flesh; it appeared to be an “ice box” type. We also
bought a delicious, very large cantaloupe. Usually, we use one whole,
smaller cantaloupe (peeled, of course) for a smoothie; but this time we
cut this large cantaloupe in half, stored the unused portion in the
refrigerator, and enjoyed cantaloupe/banana fruit smoothies for two
days.

"Joyful Curmudgeon"
An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the
same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the
world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true
peace and compassion.Blog
