THE ROAD HOME – A Transporter’s Story
By Debra L. Stitt

Day breaks anew, the mission is clear,
The journey begins, it all starts here.

We come together, as so often we do,
With a plan in place … a clear map to you.

A gentle nudge, a loving glance,
We are their hope, their only chance.

On the road home, coming your way,
You’re now their family, and with you they’ll stay!

One by one, the hand-offs take place,
Each new city, a loving embrace.

Over and over, we settle them in,
Again on our way, to you on the end.

It matters not, whether large or small,
These bundles of joy, we carry them all.

From dawn to dusk, traveling far and near,
Across the miles … never again shall they fear.

A true freedom ride, oft’ shore to shore,
A labor of love … precious cargo on board.

On the road home, it’s all about them,
Their happy tale … “no longer condemned.”

Destination furever, the mission at hand,
A rewarding day’s work, just as planned.

Our payment you ask, as we drift off to sleep,
Those smiling eyes, have brought us great peace.
