The Beginning
Poetry By Anthony James

come in, sit down
make a little place for yourself
how have you been,
old friend?

what have you done?
Where have you been?
tell me about it all

I will make some tea
open the window
there is a breeze

listen to the harps
and the violins wheeze
and the stained glass
casts a colorful glow

upon every word you speak
and every emotion you show
I'm counting your sips
I know the state of your cup

you don't have to ask me
to fill it up-
for I am your drink,
I am your bread

for I am the feeder of those whom I care
and I am the receiver of all of the prayers

and I have been waiting for you to arrive
welcome home, Son-
welcome to Life.
