Trail Of Anchors
Poetry By Gerard Haughey

you called me and I came
I trusted you
with no words you explained
that I had come to take your pain

In hindsight I had nothing
to offer you...
in or for the world...

but trust betrayed
hands your pain
into the hand of a slave

and for your faults
you have made me pay...

then,
send me on my way

i am a slave,
this way-

heavy chains
draggin' pains

long gone and forgotten

i look about
wondering how to arrange all the pain
in my heart

walking around, thinking of you all,
every day.
