Zoochosis
By Janet Riddle

It's called zoochosis - driven insane
a life so unnatural and mundane
Seen in their neurotic sways
becoming worse in passing days
Blank faces cast a vacant stare
imprisoning the wilds isn't fair
Every instinct and urge denied
no privacy, no place to hide
IN the cold, those born for heat
those born for cold, with charred feet
The solitary with no place their own
while the social sit all alone
Education, the zoo's excuse
what is taught through this abuse?
Meant to roam upon the land
enslaved to cages by the human hand
If they have souls, we cannot tell
but if they do ~~ they'd call this hell
