Moo-ving people toward compassionate living

Wishful Thinking |
From WG - 27 Sep 2005 I would just like to say that I agree almost whole heartedly. I'm a vegetarian and I went that way because I don't agree with the way humans treat animals nor do I believe in exploiting anything (animals or plants) for a profit. But I do have one thing to say. Now I know that this is redundant and may seem hypocritical but due to human breeding ideas cows can no longer hold milk in there utters and chickens lay eggs whether they are fertile or not. You want to know my point? By not using the milk and eggs we are just wasting what they do naturally. And we are hurting the cows by not taking their milk. Of course milking cows till there utters bleed is cruel and unusual. Did you know that the milk that has a little blood in it is the milk they use to make premade choclate and strawberry milk? Also I'd like to say that veal should be illegal and if you make a petition to send to the president (I don't support Bush but this is the only legal way) I will gladly sign it and I know others who will. Reply from Frank and Mary Dear WG: Thank you very much for writing. We very much appreciate your compassionate stance, but don't believe you really understand animal husbandry as it is practiced today. First of all, it is virtually impossible for enough people to stop eating animal products quick enough to harm any living animal. In order for a cow to give milk, she must be brutally inseminated every year; so the problem of not being milked is a short lived one. Half of her calves end up as veal calves. Veal is a product of the dairy industry. Every year they kill about 265,000,000 male chicks on factory egg farms. If they stop breeding the laying hens, within two years there wouldn't be any more eggs and the problem would stop. We hope this helps.
