The Passing To Glory Of A Gentleman
How deeply saddened I am to learn of the passing of animal lover
Tony Moore of Southport, the founder – along with his late wife
Vickie, of FAACE!
Of one thing I am sure: earth’s loss will be Heaven’s gain. In an
age when most professing Christians are only concerned about their own
future salvation, dear Tony Moore fought as a mouthpiece for the whole
of the dumb creation. He knew, full well, that any profession of
Christianity that left the animals out was at total variance with the
message and mission of Jesus.
Indeed, Jesus Of Nazareth identified His character and compassion
with one who would risk damaging every limb in ones body so as to
rescue but one wayward sheep that was lost, having wandered from the
fold. Indeed, the message of that first Christmas was to assure people
that God and his angels accompanied humble animal carers watching
their flocks by night!
We forget to our own shame that God
chose for His Son a manger in a stable rather than a cradle in a
palace! Indeed, if there were then no place in Paradise for the
animals then – given the choice! - I’d opt for Hell any day!
Dear Tony Moore – along with his long deceased wife Vickie – were
shining examples of what all Christians should be. Yes, but a marked
contrast indeed, to so many professed leaders within the churches who
deny animals as much as a mention in their liturgies, not to menti0on
the possession of a soul so clearly revealed in Holy Scripture!
How stinted and blinkered these ‘blind leaders of the blind’ are!
They are as much off course theologically and linguistically in
scripture as is the North Pole from the south!
Dear Tony Moore you were an honour and a privilege to meet, then
‘may you rest in peace and rise in glory’. What is more, in the words
of the apostle Paul I can truthfully say that ‘I thank my God for
every remembrance of you.’ You and your long deceased wife Vickie,
make me at times homesick for Heaven.
A brief
insight in to their past accomplishments:

A brief insight in to
their past accomplishments:
Indeed, Vicki and Tony Moore formed FAACE in 1987. The main reason
for the formation of FAACE – which means Fighting Against Animal
Cruelty in Europe - was to fight against the cruelty inflicted on the
Spanish animals in the Blood Fiestas and Bullfighting rings, in the
name of entertainment. No one was working solely on this issue and
very little progress was being made. Let Tony speak for himself here!
‘Our Work: FAACE works to create a new ethic of treatment for
animals. One of the first steps is to put in place good national and
international animal protection laws. FAACE works in the field, making
in-depth investigations and studies of the reasons underlying these
many problems. We have confronted the authorities and people of
Spanish towns who perpetrate such sadism.
We have saved some of
the animal victims of these cruelties and placed them in safe hands.
Through video and photographic evidence, gained with great difficulty
and sometimes much danger in the many investigations carried out by
Vicki and myself, we have brought global pressure to bear on several
governments. We have presented our videos, photographs and reports in
the UK and European Parliaments, have provided evidence for the
European Commission and have developed a research bank that is in
constant demand throughout the world.
Since it's foundation in
1987, FAACE and its work, has been the subject of a large number of
television programmes worldwide. Amongst them has been, 'This Week',
'Nature' with Julian Pettifer, 'The Big Story', 'The Selina Scott
show' and 'Dateline' NBC. Indeed FAACE and its work has been featured
in numerous publications globally, such as 'The Times', 'The
Telegraph', 'The Independent', 'The Scotsman', 'The Daily Mail', 'The
Sunday Express', 'The Village Voice', 'The Hong Kong Standard', 'The
South China Morning Post', 'El Pais', 'El Mundo', and leading major
broadsheets and colour magazines, from virtually every continent.
We stipulate as the condition for using FAACE video footage,
photographs and information, that the material must be used to
illustrate the plight of the animals and draw public attention to the
suffering endured by the animals.
Our Results! A number of
Blood Fiestas have been banned, some have been abandoned including:
The throwing of live goats from the church tower at Manganeses De La
Polvorosa was stopped in 1999. Yes, and in 1993 the chicken killing
at Nalda was stopped. In 1992 Algete stopped its live castration of
the bulls A swath of villages in Salamanca/Zamora gave up their cock
killings in 1997, Since 2003 all chicken fiestas have stopped. Mainly
due to the pressure created by FAACE
Our terrible Loss! In
June 1995 Vicki received life-threatening injuries when a bull in a
fiesta in Coria, Spain, gored her. She continued to campaign for the
animals until her death, on the 6th February 2000’.
Yes, and
within days of being repeatedly tossed by a tortured bull she’d
lethally sought to video at close angle! – while in appalling pain -
she insisted on imparting, via the phone, words of great encouragement
on my first book: ‘Cast Out Of The Ark – the churches’ abuse &
rejection of God’s animal kingdom’. What a gem of a lady!
Brooding over tragedies is a sure way to hatch them!
Yes, and don’t I know it? Indeed, the ‘Good book’ reminds us that
‘as a person thinketh in his/her heart; so they become’, and
Christians anxious to fight all forms of animal abuse need to realise
this. It does not mean that we should distance ourselves from such
cruelty towards the defenceless, but it does mean that having viewed
it we do not remain motionless, brooding over it in its various forms.
What we must do, as soon as our emotions are moved with such horror,
is to use the emotion as a God sent drive to do something about it
practically! Do not wait another day simply brooding, but thank God
for such an emotion and use it as divinely sent power and energy to do
something relevant to benefit the animals involved..
Few things
were worse in the early part of the last century than to have folk
leaving a theatre, to pass starving street urchins in close proximity
outside - with hardly a thought for the latter – while having wept
‘bucket full’s’ within the theatre at the close of some fictitious
melodrama.. Indeed, emotions that do not lead to relevant action are
the cause of much psychological neurosis;. leading to unbearable
depressions.
What is more - having done something through
channelling the emotion along constructive and relevant lines - we
equally need to then switch across to constructive and positive lines
of pleasure; often watching or attending a first class comedy show,
realising that there is much truth behind the words: ‘laughter is the
best therapy’. Indeed, speaking for myself, had I not a stock of
videos of comedian Ken Dodd close at hand, then I would have quite
probably ‘cracked up mentally’ long before today.
Such a veteran comedian as Ken I consider to be truly ‘Heaven
sent!’ By the time his performances I’ve watched have finished, my
life feels renewed so as to go out and ‘fight the good fight’ for
Jesus!. How he manages to go on as he does, at his age, gives hope for
myself, for he is around four years older! Yes, while other folk say
words such as “You’ve done your part for the animals James. Now rest
and hand the work over to younger folk!’ the likes of Knotty Ashe’s
master of mirth makes me think ‘If he can still be active for God and
the people by his gifts of comedy then I can be active for God and the
animals by my gifts of compassion.
