2 cups Black Sticky Rice, grain
4 cups Water, cold

This recipe will make 6 to 8 servings, either as a side dish or as a bed for serving another recipe.  If you wish to make a smaller quantity, cut the recipe in half.  Left over rice can be stored in the refrigerator in a tightly covered container for a two to three days.

Begin by placing the cold water in a covered pot on the stovetop.  Turn the heat up to high and bring to a boil.

When the water is boiling, add the rice, cover, and reduce the heat to low or simmer.

Cook until all the water is absorbed.  The first signs of the water being absorbed, and rice being cooked is that it develops small steam holes, as can be see in the photo to the left.  Unabsorbed water can be checked by holding the lid on with a pot holder, lift the handle with the other hand, and tipping the pot slowly to one side, see if any water rises above the rice along the side of the pot.  If it does, allow to simmer for a little while longer.  When all the water is absorbed, turn off the heat. Serve and enjoy!

The above recipe is in keeping with God's creation intent (Genesis 1:29-31):  'Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.  And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground-- everything that has the breath of life in it-- I give every green plant for food." And it was so.   God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.' (NIV)  Let no animal suffer or die that we may live!
