Spiritual and Inspirational poetry that touch the heart and soul, and provoke the mind.
I was born in Hue, Vietnam, to missionary parents. Due to continuous wars in Vietnam my parents, with their family of seven children, returned to the U.S. and settled in Nyack, NY. After graduating from high school I went on to earn a BSM (Bachelor of Sacred Music) degree from Nyack College, where I met and married my husband, David.
From 1963 to 1974 my husband taught at Jaffray School of Theology in Indonesia while I devoted much time to exploring possibilities for indiginizing church music (ethnomusicology). The result was a published songbook "Lagu-Lagu Alkitabiah" (Scripture Songs) with melodies composed in a free flowing style closer to the island music.
After returning to the U.S., David continued to teach while I became involved in the arts. I took several art courses, then became a magazine art director. Later, my work took me to designing various art pieces ranging from large posters to correspondence note cards and book covers. Other creative activities included commercial interior design and displays, including stand-alone historical cabinets.
My poetry is a natural expression of the heart-unplanned; never forced. Verses spill out in surprising, spontaneous outbursts of emotion, offering reasons for life's ups and downs and bringing welcome relief, peace, and joy.
