Preparation

We each have one quart or a little more of the smoothie for our breakfast, so we usually completely fill the large container of our Vita-Mix high speed blender. If you wish to make a smaller amount, cut the recipe in half.

Wash the cantaloupe, cut lengthwise in half.  In a high speed blender, even the cantaloupe seeds can be blended into the smoothie; so we place the seeds and peeled pieces of the cantaloupe in the bottom of the blender container.

Peel 2 of the bananas, and add the bananas to the blender container, forming a bowl in the center of the container for the flax seeds and stevia so that the seeds don't touch the sides of the container.

Wash and clean the fresh kale, and add to the blender container until it is 3/4 full with the fresh, frozen or cooked kale, add the ice, cover, and run the blender at high speed until the ingredients are smooth, using the tamper as required.

While the blender is still running at high speed, add additional ice, any remaining kale, and extra bananas through the hole in the cover to fill the container and achieve the desired consistency of the smoothie.

Pour into glasses and serve with a straw. Enjoy!

Vegan FlagThe above recipe is in keeping with God's creation intent (Genesis 1:29-31): 'Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground-- everything that has the breath of life in it-- I give every green plant for food." And it was so. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.' (NIV) Let no animal suffer or die that we may live!
