Child Abuse: 6 Year Old Fish Killer

Yesterday, Yahoo News carried the story titled: “Young angler hauls in fish bigger than him” which was connected to videos of this young boy catching a tarpon with great joy.

All kinds of red flags went up about a devious form of socially acceptable child abuse:

Someone had hardened this child’s heart and soul to no longer have empathy for fish, and probably for other animals.

Someone has taught this child that it’s fun to cause another living being to suffer and/or die.

And because these acts are all premeditated, someone had turned this child into a murderer, and all the publicity around these ungodly acts only reinforces the evil.

Note what Jesus tells us in Matthew 18:5-7 about the people who hardened the heart and soul of this little child.

5. “And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.

6. But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.

7. “Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come!”
NIV

In verse 7, we can clearly see that this judgment of God is not only directed against the people who led this child astray, but is also directed against the world that supports and encourages these hard-of-heart acts.

Stand up! Speak up! Let you voice be heard! The animals need us to speak for them, and the people need to hear this message; for God wants us all to have a soft heart, and turn away from the evil ways of this world with all its suffering and death.
