Living in the Will of God – 03 God’s Heavenly Will
After looking at God’s creation intent, the next obvious place to look and learn what it means to live in the will of God is to look at our Father’s heavenly will.
Jesus commands us in Matthew 5:48…
48. “Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Jesus emphatically commands us to be perfect as God is perfect, and He doesn’t give us any other choice. Then right after this He teaches us to pray, as part of the Lord’s Prayer, for this to happen (Matthew 6:10).
10. ‘Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
If Jesus teaches us to pray for God’s heavenly will to be done on earth as it is in heaven, doesn’t it only make sense that we should do everything in our power to help make our prayers come true?
Of course it does! We are to live in the heavenly will of God.
And what is heaven like? Note what we are told in Revelation 21:3-4 about the new earth that God creates, for it reflects God’s perfect will:
3. And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He shall dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be among them,
4. and He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there shall no longer be any death; there shall no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”
The Holy Spirit of God is supposed to dwell within every true believer, so in actuality, God is among us.
If this is true, then every person who claims to believe should be doing everything in their power not to cause others to cry and mourn the suffering that is so rampant in the world around us, and they should not contribute to the pain and death or any other living being, whether human or other animals.
This is what the Lord led us to do back in the mid 1980’s, and we strongly believe that this is the heavenly will of God that we should be working and praying for to be on earth as it is in heaven.
This is living in God’s heavenly will.
