Preparation

We prepare our fruit crisps in a covered glass baking dish in our microwave oven, but they can be made in a conventional oven set at 350 degrees F.

With a knife, cut off the ends of the ripe Plantains. Then cut the Plantain peel lengthwise on opposite sides (2 cuts) and remove peel by pulling off.

Cut into bite-size chunks and place in the baking dish.

Wash the Apples, cut into wedges, and remove the core part. Slice each wedge into bite-size pieces and add to the baking dish.

Peel the Oranges, divide into sections, cut each section in half or into thirds, discarding any seeds in the process, and add the Orange pieces to the baking dish.

Peel the Bananas, cut into chunks, and add to the rest of the fruit in the baking dish.

Add the Raisins, Walnut pieces, and the Rolled Oats. Sprinkle on the Cinnamon and mix well.

Cover the baking dish and place it in the microwave oven for 3 minutes on a setting of high. Remove, mix, and return to the microwave oven for 3 more minutes on high.

If using a conventional oven, the cooking time could be 10 to 20 minutes at 350 degrees F. At about the half way point, mix to ensure even heating. Do not over-cook the fruit.

Remove from the oven and serve. Enjoy!

The above recipe is in keeping with God's creation intent (Genesis 1:29-31):  'Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.  And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground-- everything that has the breath of life in it-- I give every green plant for food." And it was so.   God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.' (NIV)  Let no animal suffer or die that we may live!  (d-30)
