Turnips Corn Flour Nutritional Yeast Soy Sauce or Bragg Aminos Hot Sauce (To enlarge the photo of the turnip crisps, click on the photo or link) |
We have not indicated the quantities for this recipe, since the amounts will depend upon the size of the baking pan and how many turnip crisps each person desires to eat. The turnip crisps can be baked in a microwave oven (on high) or in a conventional oven at 350 degrees F.
Select large turnips, and wash and remove the stem and root ends and any other bad spots.
Slice the turnips into 3/8 inch (1 cm.) thick slices, and then cut the slices into strips.
We use two plates for coating the turnip strips. In one plate place a couple of tablespoons of soy sauce and a little hot sauce (if desired). In another plate, place two tablespoons each of corn flour and nutritional yeast.
Roll each turnip strip thoroughly in the soy sauce mixture and then in the dry flour mixture, and place the strips on the baking sheet. Make additional coating mixtures as needed.
Bake the turnip strip until the outsides begin to get crispy. Be careful not to over cook or the turnip crisps will become too dry.
Serve and enjoy!
